What is a Men’s Shed? – Men’s Sheds are a place to pursue practical interests at leisure, to practice skills and enjoy making and mending. But rather than doing this on your own, Men’s Sheds are about social connections and friendship building, sharing skills and knowledge, and of course a lot of laughter.
Who can join? – The focus for our shed is to support Men’s mental health. Evidence suggests that men-only spaces are beneficial and wanted. Stereotypes and stigma may still make men feel that they have to mask their vulnerabilities. It is for anyone who is feeling isolated and would enjoy: learning new skills, developing existing skills, or just having a cuppa with some friends! We would encourage anyone who is interested to come to come along and chat to us
What do our members say? – ‘The best fun I have ever had’ Scott, ‘Lights up my life’ Ronald, ‘So delighted with the help, support, and confidence Faversham Men’s Shed has given me’ Angela,
The Shed is more than just a building –it’s an opportunity for men to share hobbies, skills, interests and banter. Working alongside each other provides the trigger for conversations, sharing and peer support. Coming along to the Men’s shed can help reduce loneliness and isolation. Studies show joining a shed can result in:
- 76% of people felt less anxious after joining a Shed.
- A 96% reduction in loneliness after joining a Shed
- An 89% decrease in depression after joining a Shed
There are lots of ways to get involved.
Everyone is given a warm welcome at our Shed… We always look forward to meeting new members and making new friends. From lathe work to recycling pallets, making bird boxes and bug houses but there is always lots of chat, laughter and coffee!
The Faversham Men’s Shed is open Wednesdays and Fridays 10am – 1pm. Or come along to our one of our morning events
